So far, Mumbai rains have been moderate, with not even one spell of heavy rainfall being witnessed yet. According to reports, Santacruz has registered 250 mm of rains which when juxtaposed to the monthly June average of 493 mm, highlights the deficiency. 

In accordance with the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai is anticipated to see moderate spells of rain today, June 29. However, heavy rains in isolated places are likely to transpire tomorrow, June 30.

These rains have been attributed to an off-shore trough along the west coast as well as a cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh and its adjoining areas. 

IMD official, K S Hosalikar was quoted in accounts elaborating on how certain monsoon favourable conditions have been seen in the latest satellite. He added that the Mumbai radar that brings to light cloud bands penetrating over north Konkan. This he said entails, Mumbai, Thane, and areas of Palghar and Raigad.

The official on Tuesday, reportedly elucidated that owing to these observations, the IMD has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall over the majority parts of Mumbai city and suburbs for the next two days.

The Regional Meteorological Department, Mumbai in its forecast for the next 48 hours predicts, "Generally cloudy sky with moderate rain in city and suburbs with the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places".

It is also likely that the minimum temperature could be 25 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature may be 29 degrees Celsius. However, the humidity levels will hover at nearly 92 per cent.
