Mumbai Surpasses Monthly July Rainfall, Heavy Showers expected on July 16: Skymet

It continued to pour in and around Mumbai on Wednesday. There were news reports of waterlogging at various junctions such as the King's Circle in Wadala. However, the rain did manage to keep the weather pleasant. 

According to weather forecasting body Skymet, as of the morning of July 15, the city had received 849 mm rain in this month. With this, Mumbai has already surpassed its monthly rain average of 840.7 mm in the first half of July.

It further shared on July 14, Santacruz received 97 mm of rain. Heavy to very showers were reported over many other parts of Mumbai as well leading to waterlogging and traffic jams.

 A cyclonic circulation is persisting over the North East Arabian Sea and adjoining areas. Low-level wind convergence is also seen over Maharashtra coast.

 We expect heavy to very heavy rains to continue over Mumbai and suburbs until tomorrow July 16. Thereafter, the intensity of rain will decrease but Mumbai weather will not go completely dry. On and off rain and thundershowers will continue over Mumbai and suburbs with few occasional intense spells.

There was earlier an orange alert issued for July 15 and it was expected that heavy rainfall will lash the city. Furthermore, BMC had even issued a warning asking citizens to be cautious. There was also a high tide warning issued by the civic body for July 15.
