With no respite from heat and humidity even during the year-end, Mumbai became the hottest city in the country over the weekend for three days in a row, according to weather report.

Moreover, in a major concern to the Mumbaikars, meteorologists on Monday, December 19, warned that the summer-like feeling will continue for three to four days more.

According to the daily weather report, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mumbai on Saturday, December 17, recorded day time temperature or maximum temperature of 35.9 degrees Celsius, which was 3.4 degrees above normal, at the Santacruz weather station - representative of Mumbai. The morning was also warm with minimum temperature 5.4 degrees above normal at 23.4 degrees Celsius. The day’s temperature marked highest for the month when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, December 18, the Colaba observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 33.4 degrees Celsius.

Besides, it has come to light that officials at the IMD said not just Mumbai but the entire Konkan (35.4 degrees Celsius in Ratnagiri) is witnessing warm day and night temperatures.

However, it is also to be noted that Mumbai’s air quality index (AQI) has worsened and has surpassed Delhi becoming the city with filthiest air quality this year.
