Along with the entire Maharashtra, while the eyes of the people of Navi Mumbai were on the rain, the city of Navi Mumbai received heavy rains on the first day. On the other hand, there has been heavy rainfall in the Morbe dam area which supplies water to the city of Navi Mumbai and on the very first day, 90 millimetres of rain has been recorded in the Morbe dam area.

This is a matter of happiness for Navi Mumbaikars. This year, due to heavy rains and less water in the dam, as per the instructions of the state government, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation started water reduction in the city from April 28. In addition, the concern of the people of Navi Mumbai increased due to the hot summer and the fact that the first 23 days of June were dry in Navi Mumbai and in the Morbe Dam area. Therefore, the water supply is being stopped one day in the evening in a week, and if the rains continue, there is a possibility that water will be cut for two days in the evening in a week. But the rains that started from Saturday have given relief to Navi Mumbaikars and Navi Mumbaikars are expecting heavy rains in the city along with the Morbe Dam area.

But since Saturday, along with the city, the rain has started in the Morbe Dam area, the citizens have got a big relief. But this year, since there is less water in the dam, the municipality is repeatedly appealing to Navi Mumbaikars to use water sparingly.

The senior officials of the municipality informed that they are keeping a close eye on the daily water supply in the city and planning for it. Adequate precautions are being taken regarding water supply. Last year also due to low rainfall in the dam area, Morbe Dam was not fully filled. At present, only 23.67 percent water storage is left in Morbe Dam. There is only enough water left in the dam for the next 34 days i.e. till July 27. Even though the rains have started, the Municipal Corporation is appealing to the citizens to use water sparingly and save water.
