The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has once again asked the citizens in Mumbai and Nagpur to remain alert as they are likely to receive incessant rainfall for the next 48 hours.
KS Hosalikar from the IMD further took to Twitter to inform that apart from rainfall, a severe warning has been issued for a hailstorm as well.

Meanwhile, the city has recorded near-normal maximum temperatures last month, with the average day temperature being recorded at 33.8 degrees Celsius. According to the IMD, the average day temperature for April is 33.2 degrees Celsius in Mumbai. Moreover, no heatwave was clocked across the city in April. In March, heatwave conditions were recorded for two days when the day temperature remained above 40 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature remained slightly higher, with an average of 25.2 degrees Celsius in April. The average night temperature for April in Mumbai was 24.2 degrees Celsius.
In addition, the IMD has predicted long-term rainfall from June to September. The meteorological department further forecasted favourable monsoon in India due to favourable changes in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean.
This season happens to be very important for the farmers as the crops depend on this period to provide adequate supply to the citizens throughout the year. Furthermore, the quantity of rainfall also decides the amount of water that is to be collected by the lakes which supply water all year round to Mumbai.
