Against the backdrop of climate change measures, India's first Mumbai Climate Week (MCW) is being held in Mumbai from February 17-19, 2026. It will create a new platform for climate leadership for countries in the Global South. This three-day Climate Week will bring together heads of government, industry leaders, climate experts, various organizations, youth, and NGO representatives from various countries at the global level.

This initiative is being organized by the NGO 'Project Mumbai', and will be supported by the Government of Maharashtra, the Department of Environment and Climate Change, the MMRDA, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The main hub of this Climate Week will be at the Jio World Convention Centre, with various programs planned in a hub-and-spoke manner at colleges, community, and cultural institutions across the city. The initiative's organizer, Project Mumbai Founder and CEO Shishir Joshi, explained that the focus will be on showcasing and amplifying practical climate solutions.

Regarding the initiative, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "Mumbai Climate Week highlights India's proactive role in climate action. By bringing together government, industry, finance, experts, and youth, it will send a clear message that Maharashtra is ready to build a clean, safe, and sustainable future."

Project Mumbai Founder and CEO Shishir Joshi said, "Mumbai's determination and ingenuity will stand strong in facing the climate crisis. This will be India's first experiment in a large-scale climate movement built on citizen participation.

Various seminars, innovation challenges, and a youth green innovation competition

The main hub of Mumbai Climate Week will feature leadership dialogues, various seminars, innovation challenges, a youth green innovation competition, and a solutions exhibition. On the first day, a special program will be held to present the Earthshot Prize, conceived by Prince William, focusing on solutions centered on nature, food systems, and people. At this event, astronauts Rakesh Sharma and Shubhanshu Shukla will interact with students and guide them on science, space, and climate responsibility.
