Mumbai - INS Vikrant, which is under construction in Kochin shipyard is in news for some time. It was believed that this warship will take a long time to be operational but according to Vice-admiral Girish Luthra, it will be part of Navy by 2018. Currently, the work of INS Vikrant is in the last stage of the second phase.
This will be the first fighter plane carrier warship made in India with help from the USA. Its believed that American technocrats were not very happy with the work done till February. Seeing China's advances in the Indian Ocean, it is imperative to have this ship in the fleet of Navy at the earliest.
