Gateway of India had an exciting surprise for the people on the occasion of ‘Independence Day’ as it transformed into an open air theatre where the history of the city unfolded through images projected on the iconic monument through a laser show.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the ‘Next Generation Mapping System’ at an event organised by the Directorate of Information Technology and Tourism Department at Gateway of India on Tuesday.

The department of tourism and information technology worked on the project, and the CM said it would be run on a trial basis for 15 days. After the 15 day trial, a feedback will be taken and accordingly, the authorities will make changes if need be.

The CM thanked actors Amitabh Bachchan and Nana Patekar for their respective Hindi and Marathi voice overs.

He also said that efforts will be made to make Mumbai a world attraction for tourism.

This event will be open to everyone between 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Gateway of India for the next 15 days.
