INIFD has been presenting the Gen Next show for several years at Lakmé Fashion Week.
During Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019, INIFD presented its first exclusive show “Launchpad”, when the institute unveiled the talents of fresh designers from its various branches in India.
Yash Shukla from Indore dazzled the audience with his ensembles, Manali Shah selected from Koregaon Park, Pune, revealed some exciting styles, while Ishita and Sonali from Chandigarh brought style and colour on the ramp. Muneeba Nadeem from Kanpur displayed glamour on the catwalk; while Neelam and Ruby from the Borivali Branch in Mumbai created a stir on the runway with their fashion directions.
Yash Shukla’s collection was an amalgamation of fantastic quirky prints that were reminiscent of old school days. With a versatile range of motifs, ranging from Chor Raja and Sipahi games to boats, hop-scotch games, kites, and post offices, all patterns were embossed onto the silhouettes for an extremely lively and playful vibe. The continuous use of the running stitch remained the brand identity, along with belts, while the innovative use of the checks came alive on the ramp in hues of whites, beiges and blacks.
Manali Shah’s collection was a melodious symphony of silhouettes in pastel hues. From baby pinks and blues to bright yellows, the garments had hand-block prints that created a chic vibe. Scarves were draped onto the jumpsuits and translucent skirts, while the cropped tops, along with belts, set the mood. Potli bags in soothing colours added to the ramp appeal. Tassels played an extremely significant role in enhancing the garments.
Neelam and Ruhi created the perfect mood for an exotic line. From swimwear, teamed with long trail jackets, the silhouettes were a mix of pleated and frilled sleeves. High waisted pants, along with halter necks and tubes in satin overcoats were visions of beauty on the ramp. Belts were teamed with capes for an exaggerated offering.
Sonali and Ishita showcased their innovative style aesthetics with the style mantra being layering. Knots played a very significant role, while the minimally embellished pockets had triangles embossed on them. Pleats and dhoti-styled pants teamed with shirts made a classic style statement.
Muneeba Nadeem presented a sophisticated line of silhouettes. With a collection full of hijabs, the designer showcased a range of kaftans, long tunics, along with saris and blazers. The bell and balloon sleeves, with intricate embellishments, were every bit edgy and classy. Bell pants, along with the right amount of minimalistic sheer and the ruffled sari, added to the aesthetic beauty of Chadors and Abayas.
