Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations have begun and as the festive season is here, people will witness a number of Ganpati pandals around the city. However, this year, many Ganpati pandals were denied permission after they failed to comply with the regulations set by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Out of the 3,064 applications for the construction of Ganpati pandals, the civic body had rejected 379 applications due to various reasons. Majority of the applications were rejected in order to avoid traffic congestion throughout the city. On the other hand, the civic body had approved 2,518 applications whereas 87 pandal application are still being processed.
