With the approaching Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, a woman is carrying with her, Lord Ganesha’s idol named, “India-Pakistan Border cha Raja” that is set to be positioned in a temple in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district which is near the Line of Control, reported the ANI.

This isn’t the first instance of the idol being carried from Mumbai to Poonch. Kiranbala Isher, alias Ishwar Didi has been doing so for the last six years, through her NGO, “Progressive Nation”. Her NGO advocates the causes of soldiers and she said that she places the idol in Pooch for the protection of the soldiers and their families.

Isher said that she and her family have special faith in Lord Ganesha and she hails from an army background. The idol for the past six years has been taken from Mumbai and for her Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most important festivals.

She wishes that Lord Ganesha takes all troubles away that come in the way of Indian soldiers and also hopes that the god lessens the strain between India and Pakistan so that locals from both countries can live safely.

Artist Vikrant Pandhre created the idol at his workshop in Kurla in Mumbai for the last six years. This year, he curated a unique decoration for the idol by making fencing with iron wires. A banner behind the idol depicts Kashmir valley’s beauty. There is also a portrayal of Kabul that is 600km from the border.

Isher elaborated on the decoration saying that since the idol is travelling to the border, they want to make Mumbaikars aware of the situation in Afghanistan where the Taliban has taken over. The NGO wants to apprise people of the fear the country there is facing.

Pandhre, voiced his pride that idols curated by him are being worshipped for the last six years in Jammu and Kashmir.
