Ganesh Chaturthi is all set to begin September 2 onwards and as the festive season begins, the city will come to life with people exploring the streets of Mumbai to express their joy at the arrival of their beloved Ganpati Bappa. Accordingly, this year, adding to the zest, the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanway Samiti (BMC) registered over 14,000 Ganpati pandals in Mumbai.

Samanway Samiti observed that this year, more than 650 new Ganpati pandals had been added to the existing 13,650 pandals in Mumbai along with surrounding regions. The addition in the number of pandals signifies that the city will witness an addition to the celebrations that will take place over the course of 11 days, beginning from September 2.

Majority of the Ganpati pandals are located in Andheri, Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali, and Dahisar. Alongside, the roads of Kurla too are expected to witness a considerable number of Ganpati pandals.

Meanwhile, the Samanway Samiti President Naresh Dahibavkar stated that despite the economic slowdown in the country, there has been an increase in the number of new Ganpati pandals which is a good indicator. He also added that several of these new pandals had been registered a few months ago.
