Devotees bid adieu to Ganesh idols after 12-day-long festival

Bappa is all set to bid adieu to devotees after showering blessings for 12 days. Like every other year, this year too, devotees from all over Mumbai have gathered to take part in the immersion processions of the Ganesh idols. The 12-day-long festival which began on August 25 will end on ‘Anant Chaturdashi’ i.e. today. Here, people crowd in large numbers to bid farewell to their favourite deity. The Ganesh Galli Mandal and Lalbaughcha Raja are the famous mandals which attract lakhs of devotees during the Ganesh visarjan (immersion).


The BMC and police officials have geared up to handle the immersion procession. The police have beefed up the security at Dadar, Mahim, Juhu, Versova and Gorai Chowpatty and have also placed lifeguards for any untoward incident. As per the tradition, around 9 am, devotees and members of Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Mandal did aarti and offered an oblation.
