Owing to provide the security, Mumbai’s Ganesh mandals are buying insurance cover. This insurance not only covers the idol but the ornaments, volunteers but devotees as well.
Mumbai’s well-known Andheri’s Raja have insured their mandal for INR 5.5 crore. Last year, the sum of insurance was INR 1.5 crore. They have bought the insurance from National Insurance Company Limited.
Likewise, Mumbai’s richest Ganesh mandal, the GSB Seva Mandal in King Circle has been insured for Rs 264.25 crore. The idol, ornaments, volunteers, workers among other things come under the insurance.
