The economic slowdown has had an adverse impact on Navratri celebrations too. The organisers of dandiya and garba events are claiming that there is a decline in the sponsorship and advertisements this time around.

Organisers are claiming that their sponsorship revenue has declined by more than 50%. The last year, the organisers were able to rake in about ₹1.5 crore to ₹1.7 crore from their sponsors. However, this year they have managed to get in about ₹75 lakh.

In addition to this, the sponsors have put in a lot of clauses in between for their sponsorship amount, making things even more difficult for the organisers.

Making things worse are the unexpected rains. Mostly by the time of Navratri, the monsoon recedes. However, this time weather too has been playing a spoil support. It had continued to pour all through the Ganesh Utsav and there is a lot of uncertainty on weather condition in the next week when the celebration kick start.

During the Ganesh Utsav 2019 too it was observed that the celebrations were slightly subdued but the people had been attributing the recent floods to be the reason for the same and not the slowdown.
