Have you ever dreamed of strolling into the souks of a middle-eastern country and trying out some authentic Baklava or Koshari? There is a restaurant in Mumbai where you can find just the right feels!

Bayroute is a newly opened Middle Eastern-themed restaurant in the city that offers authentic cuisines from Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey and Greece. Located in the busy lanes of Cuffe Parade, the entrant boasts of an elegant ambience and a communal dining experience.
The exotic middle-eastern décor and soulful Arabic music sifting through the air set this place apart from the rest. The wall-pieces of intricate mirror-work, Aladdin’s lamp, Hookah and Iranian walls adorning the walls will leave your visual senses enchanted.

Coming down to the food, they have an extensive menu offering the best of Kibbeh, Koshari, Manakeesh, Shawarmas, Mezze and desserts. If you are unfamiliar with the Turkish and Mediterranean cuisines, the staff will very kindly help you in explaining the dishes and they also share their recommendations, if asked.

Here are a few recommendations

Cocktails

Reyhan: A refreshing Orange-based drink muddled with fresh basil leaves.

Sangria Middle East: Essentially Red wine with berry juice and chopped apples and topped with a lot of berries

Starters

Hot Mezze - Kebab Instanbul: Minced lamb skewers served with Fries and Tahini sauce. The Kebabs are so soft and juicy, they melt the minute you bite into one.

Cold Mezze - Warak Enab: Spiced rice infused with fresh herbs stuffed in steamed vine leaves served on a bed of hummus

Mains

Lavash Crust Chicken Kabsa – Mild-flavoured rice infused with herbs and saffron flavouring along with nuts, apricot, prunes and Sultanas. The lavash casing has the perfect crunchiness to it with the yoghurt going along well with the ensemble.

Koshari – This is the national dish of Egypt which has evolved through a multi-cultural mix and comprised of Rice, Lentils, Pasta, Tomato Sauce, Chickpea & Golden Fried Onion accompanied with Lemon Chilli Garlic sauce which you can add to the portion as per your choice. Golden fried onions give a nice sweet taste, while chickpeas and pasta are a wow factor to the dish.

Dessert

Baklawa: The traditional Turkish sweet presented with a slight twist. The layered Phyllo Pastry is loaded with rich pistachio and Gulkand Ice cream, accompanied with frozen rose petals. The presentation of the dish is top notch and the taste, of course, is heavenly.

Lotus Drama: As unique as the name sounds, it’s a cheesecake topped with Vanilla bean ice-cream laid on a lotus biscuit soil blanket and served with hot caramel sauce. We bet you’re going to love it!

Each and every dish is intricately moulded into the essence of the cuisine. Although the place is slightly on the expensive side, it’s worth every penny.
