There's an intriguing new bar/lounge which has an unusual name. Unusual because the name is an illusion as 'February 30' doesn't exist on the calendar but it does exist in Oshiwara, Andheri! Going with the motto 'Reality is an illusion', February 30 is a newly opened bar/lounge located at Oshiwara, Andheri, and it promises you ‘unreal times’.

From the owner of Blanco and Bombay Cocktail Bar, February 30 reminded me much of the latter with a similar setup yet so different and fresh.

Ambience

The bar offers an exotic twist to your dining experience without compromising on the delicious flavours and fantastic vibes. February 30 is divided into an indoor section and an outdoor area. The indoor section radiates a magnificent aura with an unmatched elegant design, while the outdoor section has a simpler look and feel and yet provides comfortable albeit beautiful seating booths amidst the breeze.

Cocktails

February 30 boasts a fantastic curation of cocktails on the menu which is sure to brew you a fantastic time. Some of the favourites include Phantasm, Doctor Strange, Mind Freak, Pie In The Sky, and The Illusionist Potion, and each drink is unique in its own way.

We had two cocktails to start with from the signature cocktails list. Now these cocktails are exclusively available at February 30 and they've designed the menu in an innovative way. One was Pipe Dream, which is vodka-base cocktail with watermelon mixed with celery salt, jalapeno, lemongrass and the rim of the glass is coated with pepper. This one has a smoky feel to it and because of the pepper sugar rim, the drink gives a spicy yet sweet flavour. One notable point at February 30 is that they don't use canned juices in their cocktails, all the juices that go into the drinks are freshly prepared, which makes the cocktails refreshing, and standout from the rest.

The second cocktail we tried was the Fools Paradise, which is a white rum based cocktail with fresh thyme-pepper gomme, pear juice & lime, topped with ginger ale and dark rum float. The drink was a good amalgamation of flavours.

Food

From vegetarian and non-vegetarian treats, to Jain, Vegan, Keto, and Gluten Free variations of dishes, the all encompassing menu has a lot to offer for each and everyone. For starters, the ‘Amuse-Bouche’ –– a three bite bar bites menu –– contains an incredible variety of Indian and western small bites. From everyone’s roadside favourite Chana Garam, to Indian delicacies like Lucknowi Tandoori and Kondapuri Prawns, to Middle-Eastern treats like the Mezze Platter and Lebanese Batata Hara, to Western fare like Las Vegas Tikka and the ‘Dinosaur’s Eggs’ (Cream cheese stuffed eggs coated with spicy chicken kheema, served with parmesan fondue), there’s a splendid assortment of dishes.

We were served a range of dishes with the likes of Tempura Fish (Bombil or Bombay Duck), Dimsums, Chulbul Mushrooms, Jamaican Jerk Paneer, Sriracha Roast Chicken and Yanna Rascala.

Picking my personal favourites from above, the Tempura Fish was the highlight. The fish was fresh, and was marinated with a mix of sweet and spice and served with a jalapeno mango sauce. The quality of each appetiser was to the mark with the taste doing justice to how it's ideally supposed to be.

The Yanna Rascala was an interesting fusion as it was meatballs marinated with chettinad masala in the same gravy and a malabari lachha paratha to go along with it.

For mains, fusion food is a recurring theme, with dishes like Peri Peri Kukkad Biryani, Chipotle Paneer, Portobello Matar Malai, and Cajun Murg Methi guaranteeing a party in your mouth. Apart from the Indian dishes, there’s also sections for Salads, Sumerian Pizzas, Oriental food (Nasi Goreng, Pad Krapow, Mongolian Conji Lamb), and Western food (Pollo Amatriciana, Pomodoro, Mexichino) as well.

Ashish Mehta, the founder of February 30 said,

The restaurant offers something new, distinctive and out of the ordinary. Unlike any other space in the city, we aspire to bring forth an experience that is memorable and bewitching. To soak in an ambience that feels surreal and believe that reality is merely an illusion, February 30 is the perfectly unique place to be.”

February 30 is a good addition to Andheri's F&B scene, and the food is definitely worth it out there. With two seating areas, you can choose if you want a relatively quiet experience or one with slightly tuned up music and a nightlife-esque ambience. Feb 30 has worked well with the menu, both drinks and food and if you are looking to try out new places in Mumbai, think about hitting this one soon.
