Sushi and More, the first authentic Japanese QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) in India announced their plans to open more Sushi kitchens and in the process, launched their new brand “The Don” in Mumbai.

Sushi and more started its first stand-alone outlet in 2011 to prepare fresh, ready to eat sushi boxes to the discerning Indian customer. Currently Sushi and More operates two independent Sushi kitchens at Tardeo and Juhu, and one Live Sushi counter at India’s premium food store, Foodhall at Palladium High Street Phoenix Mills.

We will be starting 2 more Sushi kitchens in Mumbai in the next 6 months and are happy to announce the launch of our new brand “The Don” which will have a unique menu serving Japan inspired donburi bowls," announced Mr. Hakuei Kosato, the founder and Managing Director of Sushi and More India Pvt Ltd.

Donburi is a popular Japanese rice bowl dish which literally translates as "the bowl" and is frequently abbreviated as "Don", hence our new brand “The Don”. This tasty rice bowl dishes contains at times fish, meat, vegetables and/or other ingredients simmered together in a sauce and served over a bowl of hot Japanese sticky rice. Donburi meals are known to be “filling” “quick” and “reasonably priced” in Japan.

In January 2018, Sushi and More became a part of a new a newly formed joint venture whose promoters are La Ditta Limited and G.Taste Co.,Ltd, both from Japan. G.Taste is a listed company on Japan’s JASDAQ exchange, and runs around 600 stores in Japan and elsewhere, and La Ditta Limited has been very active in Japan-India business relations for the last 10 years.

Additionally, Sushi and More also arranges catering for large-scale weddings and selective at-home events and they've been organising various events such as 'All-India Japanese Fusion Sushi Contest'. They have won the Guinness Book of World Records for 'The Largest Sushi Mosaic' and have been serving delicious Japanese food at India’s largest Japan event 'The Cool Japan Festival', which has run successfully in Mumbai for the last 6 years.

The often misconceived idea that Japanese food is meant for non-vegetarians only, is just a myth and both our brands, Sushi and More and The Don serve an exhaustive range of delicious vegetarian options, across all categories – Veg Sushi Rolls, an assortment of Veg Nigiri, Veg Tempura, Veg Bento Boxes, etcetera. In fact, many dishes on our menu can be prepared for the Jain community as well," concluded Kosato.
