Indian players have impressed me with their ability: Jorge Costa after his appointment as MCFC coach

The 46-year-old Portuguese has been appointed as Mumbai City FC head coach after his latest stint with French Ligue 2 Side FC tours. Jorge Costa will be the fourth head coach after Peter Reid, Nicolas Anelka and Alexandre Guimaraes to be associated with the Islanders.

On August 14, the Islanders announced the signing of former Portuguese international Jorge Costa as the new Mumbai City FC head coach. The former FC Porto captain addressed the media on August 27 as the new Islanders head coach at The Press Club in Mumbai. 

During his dialogue with the media, Costa stated that he has talked to Portuguese players earlier who have played in the Indian Super League (ISL) and said that he is looking forward to the 2018-19 season.

Mumbai City FC CEO Indranil Das Blah praised the Portuguese and was excited about the appointment of the new head coach.

 

He also stated that the pre-season Indian leg had already begun four days ago and soon, the Islanders will be flying to Thailand for a two-week span. Meanwhile, they are planning to play at least four pre-season matches in Thailand.


Meanwhile, ISL fixtures have been released and the first match will witness a battle between the two-season winners, ATK and Kerala Blasters FC. Whereas, the Islanders will have their maiden match against Jamshedpur FC at their home ground for the first time in five seasons.
