In a statement released by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), India will host the 2020 edition of the U-17 Women's World Cup. The decision to provide the rights to India was taken at the FIFA Council meeting in Miami. The meeting consisted of members voting on a number of agenda items that would shape the future of international competitions.
Since the U-17 World Cup awarded to India, this will prove to be an opportunity like none other for the national women's team to leave a mark on the global football scenario. The women from Spain will put their title on defence when India play hosts to the ultimate football event.

Earlier, Spain defeated Mexico in the U-17 Women's World Cup in Uruguay 2018 to bag the award whereas New Zealand and Canada finished third and fourth respectively.
The honour comes to India once again after they hosted the FIFA U-17 men's World Cup. However, the hosts' men's team were knocked out in the group stages of the U-17 World Cup.

England were the winners for the U-17 World Cup in India, 2017 with Spain finishing as the runners-up.
