Mumbai District hit Nashik District for a six, by coasting to 6-0 in a quarter-final match of the WIFA organized Inter-District Sub-Junior Girls’ Football Championship 2020 at Palghar, on Wednesday.

The Mumbai girls were in complete control against the Nashik outfit and raced to 4-0 half-time lead with Riya D’Souza and Jahnavi Shetty both scoring two goals each. In the second half, Mumbai captain Bhumika Mane and junior international Mmehak Lobo scored one apiece to complete the win and confirm Mumbai’s passage to the semi-finals.

In Friday’s semi-final, Mumbai will take on Buldhana District, who defeated Nagpur District 3-1 in another last eight matches. In the other quarter-finals, Kolhapur District outplayed Solapur 7-0 and Pune District blanked Thane District 4-0.

Prior to the tournament, the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) had appointed attacking midfielder Bhumika Mane as the captain of the Mumbai team.

Quarter-finals:

Mumbai District 6 (Riya D’Souza 2, Jahnavi Shetty 2, Bhumika Mane, Mmehak Lobo) beat Nashik District 0.

Buldhana District 3 ( Aishwarya Bhonde, Vaishnavi Ubarhande, Sakshi Hiwale) beat Nagpur District 1 (Vedika Mourya).

Pune District 4 (Kajol Hubert 2, Zahra Unwala, Sapna Rajpure) beat Thane District 0.

Kolhapur District 7 (Samruddhi Kalkule 4, Sanika Patil, Shrutika Chougale, Sakshi Pauskar) beat Solapur District 0.
