The third phase of COVID-19 vaccination in India commenced on Monday, March 1, covering people over 60 and above. Even those above the age of 45 years with comorbidities are eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccines.

On Tuesday, a video showing a massive crowd at BKC jumbo facility went viral. In this video, one can see people jostling to enter the vaccination centre. However, it is being claimed that this video is misleading.

Commenting on this matter,  Dr. Rajesh Dere, Dean - BKC Jumbo COVID Facility, said, "A misleading video has been circulated showcasing the crowd at BKC centre, however, I would like to clear that the visuals portrayed are during early hours of the centre when there was a technical glitch leading to delay in commencement of the session".

He further mentions that the crowd was managed efficiently post 11:30 am. Over 2,700 vaccinations were done in a single day. It has also revealed that out of these, around 2,000 were senior citizens, this is also the maximum number of vaccinations done by any vaccination centre in the state or even in the country in one single day.

Authorities said a breakdown of the Co-WIN app for 1.5 hours had lead to such chaos.
