In the past three days, 10 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the Thane Municipal Corporation area. All patients have only mild symptoms and are currently recovering at home.
In response, Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has instructed the health department and hospitals to stay alert and monitor the situation closely. A special 19-bed COVID ward has also been set up at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa as a precaution.

Commissioner Rao reviewed the current COVID situation during a meeting with department heads on Friday. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Chetana Nitil informed that all infected patients are stable and receiving treatment at home. She also confirmed that enough medicines and testing kits are available at health centers.
Hospital superintendent Dr. Aniruddha Malgaonkar added that the RTPCR testing facility is available at Kalwa and the hospital is fully prepared to handle any potential rise in cases.
