Coronavirus Update: 11 new cases test positive from Bhatia hospital

Coronavirus has been spreading like wildfire in India. The number of cases is piling up and Maharashtra seems to be the worst impacted state in the country and houses almost one-fifth of the total patients here. Another worrisome fact is the frontline workers are getting impacted through this disease.

On April 13, 11 staff member of Bhatia hospital tested positive. With the addition of these new cases, the total number of people testing COIVD-19 positive from this Tardeo-based hospital touched to 25. 

Bhatia Hospital made it to the headlines when four patients in the hospital tested positive for COVID-19. Following this, the hospital was sealed and further tests were done on staff and other contacts. 

On Sunday, samples of Bhatia Hospital's 150 staff member had been sent for testing. The results of the same came out today and it was found that 11 of them tested positive while 139 have negative for the novel coronavirus.

Post this revelation, Bhatia hospital released a statement in which they shared that all the 25 people that have tested positive are kept in the ICU. Their condition is okay and they are being constantly monitored. 

As per the hospital authorities, the 139 staff members who have tested negative have been divided into two groups - high risk and low risk. The people who are in Low-risk group have been sent home and told to strictly keep themselves in quarantine and have minimal contact with their family over the next 14 days. On the other hand, people in High-risk group are still in quarantine in the hospital itself.. 

After Wockhardt, Bhatia is the second most impacted hospital in Mumbai. 52 staff members in Wockhardt have tested positive so far. Both these hospital join the long lists of hospitals in Mumbai that have been sealed and are being used as containment zones for now. BMC is confident that it will be able to get these hospitals functional by next week.
