As the number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra has seen a sharp decline, 12 cities and districts from Maharashtra reported five or fewer COVID-19 cases on Monday, December 28. Maharastra too has been reporting less than 5,000 cases every day since the past 24 days. 

Districts in Maharashtra that reported five or less case are Gadchiroli, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Parbhani, Amravati, Dhule and Washim, Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Malegaon and Sangli. 

Sangli had reported only one case while Gadchiroli had reported five. 

Earlier, on November 28, Gadchiroli reported 31 cases, Sindhudurg 17, Ratnagiri seven, Parbhani six, Amravati 20, Dhule three, Washim five, Ulhasnagar 28, Bhiwandi Nizampur 14, Malegaon eight and Sangli five.

Moreover, on October 28, 122 cases were reported Gadchiroli, 40 in Sindhudurg, 16 in Ratnagiri, 26 in Parbhani, 24 in Amravati, eight in Dhule, 27 in Washim, 27 in Ulhasnagar, 14 in Bhiwandi-Nizampur, 2 in Malegaon and 29 in Sangli.

Even though the situation in the state is improving the government has urged all the citizens to remain cautious to curb the super spread of the contagious disease. Furthermore, it has also asked people to maintain social distancing, wear a face mask, use hand sanitisers and avoid crowded places.

Meanwhile, in the wake of a new strain of COVID-19 spreading rapidly in the UK. The screening and testing of passengers is been carried out on international airports since December 21. As of now, 1,122 passengers have been tested in the state. Out of which, 16 passengers have tested positive who returned from the UK in Maharashtra. Out of these 16 passengers, four are from Nagpur, three from Mumbai and Thane, two from Pune and one from Nanded, Ahmednagar, Raigad and Aurangabad each.
