Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra are on a rise, and the tally recently crossed the 8,00,000 mark. However, the Uddhav Thackeray-led government announced the new guidelines under Unlock 4.0 and permitted some relaxations for the public. While the number of cases in the city of Mumbai is reducing, areas in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) have seen a substantial difference with an increase in COVID-19 cases.
Data released by the state health department showed that on Wednesday, September 2, Panvel had a total of 226 new coronavirus cases and seven deaths, which included three in Kharghar, two in Nawade, one each in Khandha Colony and Panvel. Meanwhile, 191 patients were discharged from the hospital after being treated for the viral infection.
Among the newly identified cases in the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) area, 52 were from Panvel city, 39 from New Panvel, 9 from Khanda Colony, 36 from Kalamboli-Roadpali, 49 from Kamotha, four from Kharghar and one from Taloja. Out of the 191 cured patients, 33 from Panvel, 32 from New Panvel, 13 from Kalamboli-Rodpali, 62 from Kamotha, 50 from Kharghar and one from Taloja.
So far, 13,311 people from Panvel have been diagnosed coronavirus, and 10,521 patients of those have recovered and returned home. However, 295 people have died. As of September 2, 2020, Panvel had 1,411 active coronavirus cases.
The state of Maharashtra has a total of 8,25,739 cases and 25,195 deaths. Four divisions in Maharashtra - Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nashik have more than one lakh COVID-19 cases.
