Panvel reported 25 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 28,611 while 57 people have completely recovered in the last 24 hours. In addition to this, one death has been registered in Panvel municipal area on Wednesday, January 27. In total 27,723 have recovered and discharged while the death toll in Panvel is at 622. At present, there are 266 active cases in Panvel Municipal Corporation.

Among the new cases found in Panvel municipal area are two from Panvel, six from New Panvel, three from Khanda Colony, three from Kalamboli, two from Kamothe and nine from Kharghar. While the recovered patients are 12 from Panvel, 10 from New Panvel, eight from Kalamboli, six from Kamothe and 21 from Kharghar.

On Wednesday, January 26, Maharashtra recorded 2,171 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,15,524. Currently, there are 43,393 active cases in the state. With 2,556 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,20,006.

More than 32 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 50,894. While 2,00,159 persons are under home quarantine, 2,615 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.26 per cent, and 2.53 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 11,666 new cases, 14,301 recoveries and 123 deaths taking the tally up to 1,07,01,193 on Wednesday, January 27. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,03,73,606 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,53,847 in the country. At present, there are 1,73,740 active cases. According to the ICMR, 19,43,38,773 samples have been tested up to January 26. So far, 23,55,979 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
