Panvel reported 30 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 27,157 while 24 people have completely recovered in the last 24 hours. In addition to this, one death has been registered in Panvel municipal area on Monday (December 21). In total 26,215 have recovered and discharged while the death toll in Panvel is at 593. At present, there are 349 active cases in Panvel Municipal Corporation.
Among the new cases found in Panvel municipal area one is from Panvel, one from New Panvel, two from Kalamboli, six from Kamothe and 18 from Kharghar. While the recovered patients are three from Panvel, three New Panvel, two from Kalamboli, seven from Kamothe, eight from Kharghar and one from Taloja.
On Monday, December 21, Maharashtra recorded 2,834 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 18,99,352. Currently, there are 59,469 active cases in the state. With 6,053 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 17,89,958.
With the outbreak of the coronavirus, 55 people have lost their lives a total of 48,801 people in the state have died owing to the contagious disease. While 5,04,938 persons are under home quarantine, 3,579 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 94.24 per cent, and 2.57 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, India reported 19,556 new cases, 30,376 recoveries and 301 deaths taking the tally up to 1,00,75,116 on Monday, December 21. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 96,36,518 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,46,111 in the country. At present, there are 2,92,518 active cases. According to the ICMR, 16,31,70,557 samples have been tested up to December 21.
