Panvel logs 33 new COVID-19 cases; one death

Panvel reported 33 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 28,101 while 59 people have completely recovered in the last 24 hours. In addition to this, one death has been registered in Panvel municipal area on Wednesday, January 13. In total 27,103 have recovered and discharged while the death toll in Panvel is at 618. At present, there are 380 active cases in Panvel Municipal Corporation.

Among the new cases found in Panvel municipal area are seven from Panvel, three from New Panvel, two from Khanda Colony, one from Kalamboli, three from Kamothe, 14 from Kharghar and three from Taloja. While the recovered patients are 12 from Panvel, 10 New Panvel, eight from Kalamboli, eight from Kamothe and 21 from Kharghar.

On Wednesday, January 13, Maharashtra recorded 3,556 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 19,78,044. Currently, there are 52,365 active cases in the state. With 3,009 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 18,74,279.

More than 70 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 50,221. While 2,26,599 persons are under home quarantine, 2,496 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 94.75 per cent, and 2.54 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 16,946 new cases, 17,652 recoveries and 198 deaths taking the tally up to 1,05,12,093 on Wednesday, January 13. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,01,46,763 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,51,727 in the country. At present, there are 2,13,603 active cases. According to the ICMR, 18,42,32,305 samples have been tested up to January 13.
