COVID19 cases in Navi Mumbai have seen a rise, and the locality, on September 12, recorded 414 new coronavirus patients and six deaths. The total number of cases in Navi Mumbai, as of Saturday reached 33,305. However, the death toll has risen to 723.

Currently, more than 3,500 patients in the area are being treated for the viral infection and the recovery rate stands at 86 per cent. More than 1.5 lakh coronavirus tests have been conducted in the area, and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has claimed that the rate of tests is highest in Maharashtra as compared to the population.

Following were the cases recorded in different areas of Navi Mumbai, on Friday, September 11

  • 67 in Belapur, 51 recovered
  • 56 in Nerul, 81 recovered
  • 41 in Vashi, 51 recovered
  • 59 in Turbhe, 62 recovered
  • 48 in Koparkhairane, 45 recovered
  • 33 in Ghansoli, 59 recovered
  • 70 in Airoli, 30 recovered
  • 7 in Digha

A total of 359 people recovered from the infection and were given discharge on Friday, taking the total number of cured patients to 26,135. 

As per developments, patients recently complained about private hospitals charging a higher cost for treatments, and such incidents were reported in large numbers. Observing this, the municipal corporation decided to set up a special grievance redressal room, which is located on the ground floor of NMMC headquarters. Coronavirus cases in the state have also seen a sharp increase. Maharashtra, on September 12, recorded more than 22,000 cases taking the total to 10,37,765 cases and 29,114 deaths. Moreover, Mumbai had more than 2,300 cases in one day and the tally has reached 1,67,656 cases. The doubling rate in Mumbai has dropped from 84 days to 58 days and the increasing figures across areas like Malad, Borivali, Dadar and Andheri have raised concerns amongst the public and the officials.
