Panvel reported 41 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 27,435 while 24 people have completely recovered in the last 24 hours. In addition to this, one death has been registered in Panvel municipal area on Tuesday, December 29. In total 26,525 people have recovered and discharged while the death toll in Panvel now stands at 598. At present, there are 312 active cases in Panvel Municipal Corporation.

Among the new cases found in Panvel municipal area five are from Panvel, 12 from New Panvel, one from Khanda Colony, one from Kalamboli, 11 from Kamothe and 10 from Kharghar. While the recovered patients are three from Panvel, five from New Panvel, one from Kalamboli, four from Kamothe and eight from Kharghar.

On Tuesday, December 29, Maharashtra recorded 3,018 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 19,25,066. Currently, there are 54,537 active cases in the state. With 5,572 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 18,20,021.

In the last 24 hours, 68 people have lost their lives taking the total to 49,373 people in the state that have died owing to the contagious disease. While 2,89,560 persons are under home quarantine, 3,204 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 94.54 per cent, and 2.56 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 20,550 new cases, 36,572 recoveries and 286 deaths taking the tally up to 1,02,44,853 on Tuesday, December 29. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 98,34,141 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,48,439 in the country. At present, there are 2,62,272 active cases. According to the ICMR, 17,09,22,030 samples have been tested up to December 29.
