With an aggregate of 41,073 total tests done in the Greater Mumbai area on September 23, 2021, 497 patients tested positive for coronavirus, according to the data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

On the other hand, 395 positive patients recovered and were discharged. Five people, however, succumbed due to COVID-19 on Thursday all of whom suffered from comorbidities. Whilst one was male and four were female, two deaths were registered between 40 to 60 years of age and three were above the age of 60.

The recovery as well as overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases in the island city between September 16 and 22, continues to be 97% and 0.06%, respectively. With these latest updates in numbers, the doubling rate of the city is at 1203 days.

Apart from this, there are no active containment zones in the city, based on the containment measures undertaken on September 22, the number of active sealed buildings, however, is at 51. The civic authority has been undertaking contact tracing on a war footing. On similar lines, the high-risk contact tracing performed in the past 24 hours is 3,279.

In addition to this, reports claim that based on the data made available by the civic authority, only 51.2% of healthcare workers in Mumbai are fully inoculated
