In a relief for the people of Thane, out of 24 private hospitals five have been declared as non-Covid hospitals. This move by Thane Municipal Corporation shows that the coronavirus cases are declining. These five hospitals – Kalsekar hospital, Aarogyam hospital, Wellam, Swastik hospital and Maa Vaishnavi hospitals will now cater to non-Covid patients. However, Municipal Corporation's Global, Kalwa and Mumbai hospitals will continue to treat COVID-19 patients.

The current recovery rate in the district stands at 94.35 per cent and the mortality rate is 2.52 per cent. At present, there are 6,772 active cases in Thane district.

With the addition of the latest cases reported on Tuesday, the tally in the district reached 2,16,894. The COVID-19 cases in the district have risen by 2.25 per cent in the last 10 days, as over 4,000 cases were reported from November 1 to 10, he said.

Apart from the latest cases detected on Wednesday, the district also reported 13 casualties that took the toll to 5,489, the official said.
