The state is one of the worst affected in India, whereby nine out of the 10 districts in Maharashtra have the highest number of active patients.

The information was shared by Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan at a press conference held on March 24, 2021, as the central government released a list of ten districts in the country with the highest number of coronavirus patients.

These include districts in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka, and the nine which have been mentioned from the state are Pune (43,590), Nagpur (33,160), Mumbai (26,599), Thane (22,513), Nashik (15,710), Aurangabad (15,380), Bengaluru Urban (10,766), Nanded (10,106), Jalgaon (6,087) and Akola (5,704).

With this, the city's total tally increased to 3,74,611, according to the health bulletin.

The city also reported six deaths linked to the virus in the same period.
