On Thursday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) notified the Bombay High Court that until Wednesday, 602 bedridden patients were vaccinated against the covid-19, at home. This number is out of the 4,715 who had registered for the same.

This figure comes a week into the drive commenced by the civic authority. Advocate general, Ashutosh Kumbhakoni, according to reports, presented the state’s policy, highlighting that it was off to a good start.

For the BMC, Senior counsel Anil Sakhare, elucidated that to supervise the vaccine, a two-member team that includes a doctor and nurse, along with an ambulance go to the homes of those registered. According to Sakhare, in Mumbai administered doses total 73,36,171, cite reports.

The BMC also presented to the HC that recipients face problems in acquiring fitness certificates from doctors highlighting that they will be bedridden for a minimum of six months.

Reports also claim that an advocate filed a PIL for the door-to-door policy, through which the court had subtly pushed the state through orders into operation, asked the function of NGOs that were collaborating with the civic authority in the drive. The advocate recommended that in cases where fitness certificates aren’t feasible, the civic authority could send its medical professional for verification and reaffirmed the need for a helpline.

Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni told the advocate to let the drive proceed, whilst acknowledging that there may be some troubles, in the beginning, stated reports.

The matter has been adjourned to 12 August, and the judiciary has requested an affidavit from the BMC on an update on the vaccines and the NGO’s role, claimed accounts.
