Panvel logs 61 new COVID-19 cases; three deaths

Panvel reported 61 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 27,721 while 31 people have completely recovered in the last 24 hours. In addition to this, three death have been registered in Panvel municipal area on Tuesday, January 5. In total 26,760 have recovered and discharged while the death toll in Panvel is at 609. At present, there are 352 active cases in Panvel Municipal Corporation.

Among the new cases found in Panvel municipal area six are from Panvel, three from New Panvel, nine from Khanda Colony, 12 from Kalamboli, 17 from Kamothe and 14 from Kharghar. While the recovered patients are two from Panvel, 11 New Panvel, one from Kalamboli, seven from Kamothe, nine from Kharghar and one from Taloja.

On Tuesday, January 5, Maharashtra recorded 3,160 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 19,50,171. Currently, there are 49,067 active cases in the state. With 2,828 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 18,50,189.

64 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 49,759. While 2,41,557 persons are under home quarantine, 2,788 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 94.87 per cent, and 2.55 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 18,088 new cases, 21,314 recoveries and 264 deaths taking the tally up to 1,03,74,932 on Tuesday, January 5. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 99,97,272 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,50,114 in the country. At present, there are 2,27,546 active cases.
