KDMC opens a 64-bed COVID19 facility in Kalyan

The dedicated coronavirus treatment centre has been set up in Vasant Valley area in Kalyan, and has a total of 64 beds, 55 oxygen beds and nine ICU beds. This new centre was inaugurated by the Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde.

Coronavirus cases in Kalyan-Dombivli area have been increasing exponentially and observing this rise, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has now set up a new COVID19 facility in the area. As per reports, a team, over the last few months was working on arranging 64 beds, 55 oxygen beds and nine ICU beds at Vasant Valley in Kalyan. This new centre was inaugurated by the Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde.

Work on the new quarantine centre started in April when the team planned to convert the three-storey building of the maternity ward into a dedicated coronavirus treatment facility. This unit was reserved next to the Mumbai University's Sub-center in Kalyan West, and after months of work, it is now well-equipped as a COVID19 treatment centre, which is now operational.

 Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde, on Monday, September 14, 2020, inspected the management of the newly constructed hospital and gave instructions to the concerned officers. He appreciated the doctors and supporting staff for their relentless work in treating patients infected with the virus.

It is said that due to the availability of this hospital, many patients will be able to seek immediate and best medical treatment, and as per reports some COVID positive patients from Kalyan are soon to receive treatment here. Furthermore, with this facility, officials expect the recovery rate of the cases in KDMC to increase over time.

Besides 54 oxygen beds, nine beds ICU, five ventilators and four pump machines, this dedicated hospital has facilities like X-ray room, pathology room, dining room, air conditioning system and other amenities for the patient.

As of September 14, 2020, KDMC reported a total of 39,231 cases with 738 deaths. The number saw a substantial increase after officials identified 508 cases and three deaths on Monday. Meanwhile, the Mumbai division has a total of 4,04,218 cases and 14,130 deaths. The state recorded 17,066 new cases in a day, taking the tally to 10,77,374 cases.
