Another resident of Matroshree old age home who was suffering from comorbidities succumbed to coronavirus infection at the Thane civic hospital on Monday, December 6. He was 71-year-old and a comorbid patient.

Reports stated that 20 more residents are still taking treatment, out of which four are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Of the total, 12 residents being treated at the Thane hospital were stable and the remaining were being treated at private hospitals, officials said.

Meanwhile, 66 patients have recovered and returned to home.

On December 4, a 72-year-old resident from Bhiwandi’s Matoshree Old Age Home died at Thane Civil Hospital.

According to reports, at least 85 persons including old age home residents, staff and their close contacts had tested positive for COVID-19 in just five days starting November 27.

Even after they have returned home, the hospital will be taking care of their diet for full recovery. There are several who don’t want to eat, but doctors somehow convinced them, officials added.

The initial shock has now turned into relief with at least 66 residents of the home located at Khadavli, Sorgaon, Bhiwandi Taluka, discharged from the Thane civic hospital after recovering from the infection.

Following the incident, the area was declared a containment zone and the primary health centre carried out a detailed survey on the same.
