Mira-Bhayandar: 112 COVID-19 cases in one day

The twin-city of Mira-Bhayandar only reported 112 fresh cases of novel coronavirus on Sunday. According to Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC), three people died of COVID-19 on August 23. 

The total number of coronavirus cases in Mira-Bhayandar has reached 11,830 and the death toll in the region has touched 397. On Sunday, the Mira-Bhayandar region reported 112 COVID-19 cases while the death toll in the twin-city has reached 397. 

Meanwhile, nearly 123 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged on Sunday. The total number of people who have recovered from the coronavirus is 9,665 until now. 

In the view of increasing coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, the state government had extended the lockdown till August 31. However, it has provided several relaxations outside the containment zone under ‘Mission Begin Again’ which is aimed at starting economic activities. 

It is noteworthy that the lockdown relaxations to a huge extent have not been provided in Thane and Mira-Bhayandar region. In these areas, the shopping malls and market complexes remain closed. 

As per the new directives, the Mira-Bhayandar municipal corporation has allowed the hotels and restaurants with 33 per cent capacity. Moreover, the shops have been allowed to operate for seven days a week from August 17.  

Earlier, the shops were only allowed to remain open on the basis P1-P2 basis wherein shops on one side of the lane will remain open on odd days and those on the other side will remain open only on even days.
