According to sources, for the past month, less than 50 COVID-19 patients have been recorded in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) area.

Moreover, currently, 673 people suffering from the coronavirus are undergoing treatment in the NMMC area. As per official numbers, out of 6,910 beds of the NMMC, 5,890 beds are vacant.

The daily number of patients had earlier come down to 100 in the last month, but it has come down to less than 50 in the last week. The number of patients seeking treatment in the city has also come down as the number of patients recovering daily is reportedly a lot more than that.

On the other hand, the civic body has reportedly vaccinated more than seven lakh citizens so far for the coronavirus.

According to sources, at present, 91 vaccination centres have been set up as per the directions of Municipal Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar to make it easier for the citizens to get vaccinated near their homes. It has also planned to set up more than a hundred vaccination centres to expedite the vaccination for COVID-19 if more vaccines become available in the near future. Due to the second wave of the coronavirus, and the anticipation of the third wave, the civic body has been making efforts to vaccinate the maximum number of people as soon as people. In view of the situation, measures are being taken to make the second dose available to those who have taken the first dose of the vaccine within the prescribed period.
