COVID-19 pandemic: NMMC vaccinates more than 7 lakh citizens so far

Due to the second wave of the coronavirus, and the anticipation of the third wave, the civic body has been making efforts to vaccinate the maximum number of people as soon as people.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) reportedly has vaccinated more than seven lakh citizens so far for the coronavirus.

According to sources, at present, 91 vaccination centres have been set up as per the directions of Municipal Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar to make it easier for the citizens to get vaccinated near their homes. It has also planned to set up more than a hundred vaccination centres to expedite the vaccination for COVID-19 if more vaccines become available in the near future.

Due to the second wave of the coronavirus, and the anticipation of the third wave, the civic body has been making efforts to vaccinate the maximum number of people as soon as people. In view of the situation, measures are being taken to make the second dose available to those who have taken the first dose of the vaccine within the prescribed period.

On the other hand, Abhijeet Bangar had earlier reportedly called for an urgent meeting of the health department in order to take cognizance of the situation with regards to malaria, dengue and other infectious and communicable diseases that includes the zika virus.

According to reports, the meeting was also attended by Additional Commissioner Dr Sanjay Kakade, Medical Health Officer Dhanwanti Ghadge, Medical Officer Dr Ujwala Oturkar and medical officers of all civic health centres.
