A statement issued by the civic body mentioned that the survey will be conducted in clinics of selected general medical practitioners for non-slum areas.

The survey is being carried out with the help of IDFC Institute and ATE Chandra Foundation, the statement said.

According to reports, as a part of this survey, around 8,000 samples will be randomly collected from slum and non-slum areas across 24 administrative wards. These will be tested at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital at Sion.

The sero prevalence studies are conducted to get the evidence of past exposure to the virus and to know the spread of infection in the population, the civic body stated.

Reports suggest that the first sero survey showed 57 per cent population in slums had antibodies, which reduced to 45 per cent in the second survey in August 2020. Whereas, the third sero survey had shown that 36.3 per cent of the population had antibodies against COVID-19.
