As per the state health ministry, the total number of people testing positive in Maharashtra have climbed up to 891. There are 10 fresh cases that have been registered from Mumbai.

BMC has been working on a war footing to contain the spread in a densely populated place such as Dharavi. They have already taken over a 51-bed privately owned Sai Hospital in Dharavi. This hospital is being turned into an isolation cum-treatment centre. This is first of its kind initiative by BMC to take over an entire hospital with all its staff, doctors and technicians included. These people will be guided under the Epidemic Diseases Act and will help BMC in their fight to combat this spread of COVID-19.

The death toll in the state stands at 45. The state is looking into why the mortality rate is higher than the national average of 2 to 3 per cent. While talking to media Rajesh Tope, State Health Minister also shared that he will be setting up an expert committee comprising of doctors that will be doing a detailed study on why the fatality rate in the state is as high 5 per cent.
