Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have reduced significantly, and the data released by the state health department also shows a reduction in cases across Mumbai, Thane and other areas from Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) have been able to bring the COVID-19 infection under control, and this has reflected in the data released by the government. 

As per reports, the recovery rate has increased in Thane and the same currently stands at 93 per cent. Officials stated that the rate, four days ago, was at 91 per cent. Meanwhile, the death rate has dropped to 2.49 per cent, and the incidence rate has come down to 9.74 per cent.

State health department tally shows that, as of October 28, 2020, Thane has a total of 2,21,082 cases out of which 1,96,151 have recovered and 5297 have died. The locality currently has 19,633 active cases.

Data shows that as of July 2020, an average of 352 patients was registered daily in Thane, and the number reduced to 200 in August. However, the same increased in September whereby an average of 362 cases was recorded daily. But the efforts put by the TMC has paid off, as the number of cases has been declining again in the last few days. Currently, over 100-120 new COVID19 patients are being identified every day.

Besides this, the average doubling rate in Thane is at 165 days. The number has increased in comparison to 135 days recorded four days back, and 77 days recorded a week back.

As of October 28, 2020, more than 8,000 patients were discharged from Maharashtra in a single day, taking the tally to 14,86,926 COVID-19 patients being discharged so far. The recovery rate in the state is 89.53 per cent. The case fatality rate in the state stands at 2.62 per cent.

So far, officials have tested 87,68,879 laboratory samples, out of which 16,60,766 have been tested positive, i.e. 18.94 per cent samples.

The state, as of Wednesday, has more than 25 lakh people under home quarantine and 12,988 people under the institutional quarantine.
