Active COVID-19 cases in Pune crosses 11,000-mark

Pune reported 1,740 new COVID-19 cases, 858 recoveries and 15 deaths on Sunday, March 14, taking the total number of cases up to 2,18,203. According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 11,590 active cases while 2,01,661 patients have recovered so far. The death toll in Pune is at 4,952.

 As many as 9,122 tests were conducted taking the total count to 12,48,386.

On Sunday, March 14, Maharashtra recorded 16,620 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 23,14,413. Currently, there are 1,26,231 active cases in the state. With 8,861 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 21,34,072.

More than 50 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 52,861. While 5,83,713 persons are under home quarantine, 5,493 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 92.21 per cent, and 2.28 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 26,291 new cases, 17,455 recoveries and 118 deaths taking the tally up to 1,13,85,339 on Sunday, March 14. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,10,07,352 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,58,725 in the country. At present, there are 2,19,262 active cases. So far, 2,99,08,038 healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated in the country.
