College fests are such events which attract a massive multitude of youth and hold them together over a long period of time. Anjuman-I-Islam’s Institute of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology, Mumbai realised this potential and organised a Blood Donation Camp on Thursday, December 14 alongside their ongoing annual inter-collegiate fest Magn2k17.

The camp was held in the prayer hall premises in the Anjuman-I-Islam’s Polytechnic Girls’ college building. The camp was arranged as a part of Magn’s social cause initiative. The camps were conducted in a relaxed ambience with more than 10 doctors in service. Within six hours of the camp, 100 units of blood were collected and the target was successfully achieved. Allana Foundation continued to be parent sponsor of this camp.

The donations were handed over to B.Y.L. Nair Hospital, Mumbai Central and Hurkisondas Hospital Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.

“A fest must always work towards a social cause that can benefit humanity in some way or the other. I’m proud of my students for giving rise to this beautiful drive and now that it is a success, they deserve a grand felicitation,” said Harish Suvarna, the principal of the college.

Besides a blood donation camp, Anjuman-I-Islam’s IHMCT college has also donated ₹1.5 lakh to Naam Foundation that helps drought-hit farmers. Malhar Patekar, the son of Nana Patekar had visited the college on the previous day and represented Naam Foundation. Throughout the duration of the fest, the college also made an attempt to educate the youth about waste segregation by placing separate dry and wet trash-bins by the food stalls and also putting up dedicated artworks, posters, and banners all around the campus.
