According to reports, amid the fall in COVID-19 cases reported in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to shut three of its jumbo treatment facilities in the city and is in the midst of shutting down five more. 

Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Addition Municipal Commissioner was quoted in an account by the Indian Express elaborating on how the facilities at Dahisar, NESCO (Goregaon) and Kanjurmarg were shut previously, and orders have now been initiated to close down the facilities at BKC, Richardson Crudass (Byculla), Richardson Crudass (Mulund), NSCI (Worli) and Malad jumbo centres.

Based on the narrative, officials voice that the land where the BKC centre is placed is needed for the upcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. An official in the report added that the coronavirus facility at Seven Hills Hospital with 1,850 beds is set to be in force till at least September. Further, at Kasturba Hospital, 300 beds for COVID-19 patients are also available. The official uttered that the BMC will continue to treat patients in their four major hospitals and 16 peripheral hospitals.
