Medical examinations, services and treatment will be provided free of cost in all government hospitals in the state. No annual income requirement has been imposed for it. Patients of all economic levels will get free treatment. The state health department has issued such a government order and it has been announced that this decision has been implemented with retrospective effect from August 15.


Hospitals under the control of the State Public Health Department charge minimum rates for patient fees, examinations and treatment of various diseases. In it, certain categories like government employees, public representatives and patients with an annual income of less than INR 20 thousand were given discounts on different charges. But now patients of all categories will get free checkups, services and treatment.

In this regard, a decision was taken in the meeting of the state cabinet on August 3. Accordingly, the Health Department has issued such a government order on Wednesday (August 23). Charges for blood and blood component supplies are excluded from the free service. According to the National Blood Policy, separate action will be taken regarding the service charges levied for supply of blood and blood components.


In accordance with this government order, it has been informed that the examination, treatment and services are provided free of cost, instructions should be displayed on the board in the facade of such hospitals. Instructions have been given that the health service commissioner should determine the procedure for taking strict action against the concerned if it is found that the patients are being charged by misleading the patients and the public after free examinations, treatment and services.
