Bhatia Hospital and Hinduja Hospital in Khar have now been sealed by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The reason to seal these hospitals was taken after it was found that a patient in these hospitals had tested positive. To prevent coronavirus from spreading to more people BMC decided to shut these hospitals. With the addition of these two hospitals, the total tally of hospitals that have been sealed in Mumbai in the last week has gone up to 6.

In the Hinduja Hospital in Khar, a 76-year-old woman tested positive on Wednesday. Post this, the hospital authorities started testing staffers who had come in contact with the patient. So far 14 high-risk contacts of the 76-year-old patient have been identified and they are being kept isolation.

As per BMC, no patient will be admitted to Hinduja Hospital until further notice.

Along with the Khar hospital, South Mumbai's Bhatia Hospital has also been declared a containment zone after one of the patients tested positive. As per a civic official, the male patient was shifted from Wockhardt Hospital after it was shut down.

Following the discovery, Bhatia hospital has quarantined 45 of its staffers who worked on the same floor where the patient was admitted. Their swabs were taken on Wednesday, results are expected by Thursday.

Dr R B Dastur, Medical Director, Bhatia Hospital, stated that the patient was admitted for some other illness. “In fact, when he was transferred he had a COVID-19 negative report. Till date, he has no symptoms of coronavirus. We tested him as a precautionary measure and last night his report came positive,” Dr Dastur told The Indian Express.

Over the last seven days, Wockhardt, Jaslok and Sai hospital along with Breach Candy hospital have been declared containment zones. A containment zone bars entry and exit of people to limit the spread of the infection.

Meanwhile, the South Mumbai area has been affected the most by the pandemic. With the area suffering due to the outbreak, now the patients in the area requiring emergency treatment will also have to face hassles.
