Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has spend over Rs 1,000 crore in the last seven months to overcome the coronavirus crisis.

Mumbai had been the hotspot for coronavirus outbreak in India and the state continues to lead in the total case count. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has spent more than INR 1,000 crore in the last seven months to overcome this crisis.

BMC has four major hospitals KEM, Sion, Nair, Cooper and 16 suburban hospitals in the eastern and western suburbs. More than 50,000 COVID-19 positive patients were added in May and June. Therefore, BMC has set up COVID Care Centers at more than 520 places including BKC, NSE Goregaon and NSE Dome at Worli.

 More than, INR 40 crores have been spent on infrastructure in major hospitals like KEM, Sion, Cooper, Nair hospitals. INR 10 crores have been deployed at Kasturba Hospital at Satarasta, Jerbai Wadia TB Hospital at Shivdi, Bhabha Hospital at Bandra. As much as, INR 30 crores has been spent for the upgrade of an oxygen plant and distribution of oxygen and other medical expenses at Babasaheb Ambedkar Shatabdi Hospital, Kandivali and Rajawadi Hospital, Ghatkopar.

More than INR 50 crores was spent for Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri. Also, more than INR 200 crore was spent to procure various injections, medicines including Remedacivir, Tocilizumab, Favipiravir for COVID patients. The hospital has spent more than INR100 crore for food and INR 50 crore for food supply during the lockdown.
